Putting together this lengthy package really opened my eyes to the breadth of experiences of people living with varying disabilities and the myriad ways accessibility initiatives impact all of us. There is a main cover story here and then two secondary stories. This article was recognized as a “Notable Mention” in the 2015 NCDJ Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Disability (a national contest by the National Center on Disability and Journalism, headquartered at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University).
